Privacy Policy
Hello Angel is built around your privacy. Your personal memories and private content stay yours. When you use an account, we store your data—including private backups and community content—with encryption.
Hello Angel ("we," "us") is operated by Thomas & Melissa Carlton, a family-run small business. We provide the Hello Angel mobile app and related services. Questions: message us on Instagram at @helloangelapp.
Account and sign-in. If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive identifiers, name, and email (or Apple's private relay email) from that provider. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
Encrypted private backup (optional). If you use backup/sync while signed in, your app data is encrypted on your device and we store the encrypted copy on our servers so you can restore on another device. We do not use this for advertising.
Encrypted community and social (only what you choose). If you use community features, we process content you submit—posts, comments, reactions, follows, friend connections, direct messages, memorial or profile fields, and media for sharing. That data is sent over encrypted connections and stored in encrypted form on our systems.
Subscriptions. Purchases go through Apple or Google. We receive subscription status through our payment partner (RevenueCat) to unlock features—not your full payment card details.
Notifications. If you opt in, we keep a device push token to send notifications you request (for example reminders or social activity).
Support and safety. If you message us (for example on Instagram), we keep what you send as needed to respond. We may also process information required to secure the service or comply with law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs to track you across apps for ads. Optional Apple on-device AI features, where available, run on your device and are governed by Apple's terms.
We use data to run the app, authenticate you, provide optional backup and community features you use, process subscriptions, send notifications you enable, improve reliability and security, answer support requests, and meet legal obligations.
We share information only with service providers who help us host the service, store uploads, deliver push notifications, and process subscriptions—under contracts that require protection of your data. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and protect accounts with industry-standard practices. Private backup payloads are encrypted on your device before upload. Community data and uploads are also protected with encryption in transit and at rest. We retain information as long as your account is active and for a short time afterward as needed for backups, legal, or security—then delete or anonymize it.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, and lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. You can delete your account and much of your data from in-app settings; for other requests, message us on Instagram at @helloangelapp. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
If you use the app from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. We use safeguards as required by applicable law when data crosses borders.
The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the effective date above and, when appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
