Child Safety Standards

Our commitment

Grief Support: Hello Angel is a grief support app made by Hello Angel, a family-run small business. It is a place for bereaved people to remember someone they love, journal, and find support from others who understand.

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), and we strictly prohibit child sexual abuse material (CSAM) anywhere on our service. This prohibition applies to every part of Hello Angel—posts, comments, direct messages, profiles, memorial pages, support circles, uploaded photos and videos, and any other content a member can create or share.

These standards apply to everyone who uses Hello Angel, with no exceptions. We enforce them regardless of who posts the content or why.

What is strictly prohibited

The following are banned on Hello Angel. Engaging in any of them will result in immediate removal of the content and permanent termination of the account:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Creating, uploading, sharing, requesting, linking to, or storing any image, video, or other depiction of the sexual abuse or sexual exploitation of a minor.
• Sexualisation of minors. Any content that sexualises a child, including text, drawings, illustrations, animation, or computer-generated or AI-generated imagery.
• Grooming. Building a relationship with a child, or with a child’s parent or guardian, in order to sexually abuse or exploit that child.
• Sextortion. Threatening to expose intimate imagery of a minor in order to obtain money, further imagery, sexual contact, or anything else.
• Child trafficking. Advertising, recruiting, or arranging a child for sexual exploitation.
• Inappropriate contact with a minor. Sexual contact, solicitation, or sexually explicit communication with or about a child.
• Promoting or normalising CSAE. Praising, endorsing, or providing instructions for child sexual abuse or exploitation.

For these standards, a “child” or “minor” means any person under the age of 18, regardless of the age of consent where they live.

Who can use Hello Angel

Hello Angel is intended for people aged 13 and over, and it is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 13 to create an account or knowingly collect personal information from them.

If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we close the account and delete the associated data. If you believe a child under 13 is using Hello Angel, please tell us using the contact details below and we will act on it.

How to report child safety concerns

Reporting inside the app. Every post, comment, and member profile in Hello Angel has a report option. Open the “…” menu on the content or the profile, choose Report, and select a reason. Reports reach our moderation team immediately.

Blocking. You can block any member from their profile. Blocking is mutual and immediate: the two of you can no longer see each other’s posts or send each other messages.

Reporting by email. You can always reach our child safety point of contact directly at info@helloangelapp.com. You do not need an account to report something to us.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In the United States you can also report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) on CyberTipline or by calling 1-800-843-5678. Outside the United States, you can find a hotline through INHOPE.

How we respond

Every report that reaches us is sent straight to a monitored moderation inbox, and we aim to review and action reports of child safety concerns within 24 hours. When we confirm a violation of these standards we will:

• Remove the content from Hello Angel.
• Terminate the account permanently, and take reasonable steps to prevent the person returning.
• Preserve the evidence we are legally required to retain so that investigators can act on it.
• Report apparent CSAM to NCMEC and cooperate with law enforcement.

We do not require a person to have broken the law before we act. Content that violates these standards is removed whether or not it is criminal.

Complying with the law

Hello Angel complies with all applicable child safety laws and regulations in the places where it is available. As a US-based provider, we report apparent child sexual abuse material to the CyberTipline operated by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, and we respond to lawful requests from law enforcement.

These standards sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and alongside the Google Play Child Safety Standards policy, which we follow.

We review these standards regularly and will update them as our service and the law change. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
