Maintaining Connections & Memorials

2 answers · from the Hello Angel grief library

How can we keep the memory of their loved one alive?

Children need opportunities to stay connected through stories and "continuing bonds." You might:

  • Look at photos and videos together.
  • Share favorite stories or talk about the meaning of the loved one's name.
  • Ask, "What would [Name] do in this situation?" to maintain a sense of guidance.

What are some activities we can do to remember them?

  • Remembrance Places: Choose a special spot where the child can go to think about their loved one.
  • Creative Memorials: Have the child create drawings or small items to bring to a gravesite or a memorial shelf at home.
  • Journaling: Encourage older children to write or draw in a memory book or journal.
