Supporting Emotional Expression

2 answers · from the Hello Angel grief library

How can I help them process their big feelings?

Encourage them to name their emotions—sadness, anger, and confusion. You can support them by:

  • Modeling: Let them see you express healthy emotions, including sadness.
  • Creative Outlets: Use play, art, storytelling, and physical movement to help them "mourn" outwardly.
  • Safe Presence: Simply being there is often the most healing thing you can offer.

How do I handle their anger?

Anger is a normal part of grief. Instead of just stopping the behavior, offer healthy outlets like physical movement, drawing, or talking through the frustration.
