Invisible / unrecognized grief

3 answers · from the Hello Angel grief library

Why does it feel like my grief doesn't count as much as other people's?

Some losses are not openly recognized or understood by others, but that does not make them less real. Your grief is valid even without outside validation.

Why do I feel like I have to hide how much I'm hurting?

If others do not understand your loss, you may feel pressure to minimize your emotions. Your grief still matters even if it is not fully seen by others.

Why does no one seem to understand what I lost?

Grief is personal, and not everyone will fully understand your relationship or experience. That does not make your connection or pain any less meaningful.
